...feeling helpless

السلام عليكم و رحمة الله و بركاته

Who would've thought the time would come when I will feel so helplessly helpless as I heard my very own child cried for us. I just have to. I must! WE MUST (as my husband said it). I didn't want to leave him with the teacher on the first day, no! Not after the loud scream and cries calling for 'Mama!!!' Arrrggghhh, must-not-give-in. Part of me kept of saying that this is normal, most young kids cried on their first day... most want their parents to be around and ALL MOM, I can confidently say, can't bear hearing the pleas of their children.

Took a lot of courage to walk away from his class that day. There I was stepping away from his classroom, anxiously thinking how good he would be behaving, how his teacher manage the whole class, how would he treat his friends... will he pee in his pants? will he eat his snacks? will he lose his things? Yes, call it paranoia! Little Mr. I has finally gone to school..

It's coming to a month after that very first day... Little Mr. I now loves going to school. Did all sort of artsy crafty school work and is a happy, happy boy! The best part is, seeing his happy face and having him hug me lovingly everytime we pick him up from school. Mama is so proud of you sayang... LOVE YOU LOADS! And Baby S too..

Pray that the both of you will be amongst the pious, always be in Allah's guidance and protections, and will always be in Allah's blessing... Amin...

.... 19 months : favouritism

Alhamdulillah, Little.I is 19months today and boy has he grown so much!!

One thing I noticed in him is favouritism. yes, he prefers one parent to the other and sometime even our maid saja!!! First of all, I thought it was bad and thinking that we should've spend more time with him, i,e more leave from work!! *lol* well. We should tho... Kesian Little.I~ which is why I intend to do just that. Maybe just a one-on-one time between either one of us with Little.I.

Sometimes, out of wisdom I wished I could be Dr.Halina who has time between career and family. Then again, she's on maternity and breastfeeding leave at the moment so yes~ for sure ler more time spent with the fam.

Then I read through the Net and found this :

What it is: Your toddler loudly makes it known that she wants only Mommy (or is it Daddy?) to pour her milk, tuck her in, and make her boo-boos feel better.
Why a child favors one parent: Sometimes when you child favors you or your partner, this is your toddler’s way of showing you toddler independence. She wants to prove that she can make her own choices (in the same way she insists on Runaway Bunny every night or the green sippy every time she has something to drink). It may also be a matter of familiarity and comfort with her routine. She demands “Mommy do it!” (or “Daddy do!”) because that’s what she’s used to.
What you need to know when your child favors one parent: It’s hard not to feel rejected (and kind of dejected) when your child favors her dad (Mommy who?) — or to feel a bit guilty or smug if you’re the one being worshipped (Mommy rules!). But playing favorites is common with toddlers (for example, that toddler attachment to a lovey) and has nothing to do with one of you being the better parent or being loved more. In fact, pretty soon you may find that the tide has turned: Toddlers once fiercely glued to Mommy may be suddenly stuck on Daddy — or vice versa.
What to do when a child favors one parent: Like all other phases of toddler behavior(remember when she’d eat only grilled cheese?), this too will pass. In the meantime, these tips can help level the playing field when a child favors you over your partner (or the reverse):

Spread the wealth.  If you’re the chosen one, make sure you’re not hoarding all the fun parenting tasks. By putting your partner in charge of some things your toddler looks forward to (flipping pancakes on Saturday, going to the park, reading bedtime stories), you give your mate a shot at competing.
Bow out (temporarily).  It’ll be easier for your understudy to win over his little critic if you regularly let him take center stage. Run an errand, take a walk, or have lunch with a pal while your partner runs the show at home. Everyone wins — you get some me-time, your partner gets to shine. And given the opportunity, your tot may discover that Daddy’s singing-waiter routine more than makes up for his sorry sandwich-cutting skills.
Get busy. Even when you’re together, you can fade into the background by telling your mama’s girl, “Sweetie, I’m busy now. Daddy will help you.” Then step out of the spotlight — and resist the temptation to direct your partner’s every move from the sideline.
Show your love — even if she spurns it.  It stings when a child favors your partner over you. But if your toddler is resisting affection from you, whatever you do, don’t let your hurt feelings show and don’t withdraw. That’ll make your tot only cling more to Dad. Instead, stay positive and let your little one know that you’re still into her even if she’s just not that into you (at the moment).
Blaze a new trail. One-on-one time with each of you is always a good idea, but it’s especially important when a child favors one parent. If you’re the one being snubbed, start some new traditions that you and your tot can do together — going to the farmers market on Sunday mornings, collecting leaves during walks, counting the stars before bedtime.
...And we tried implementing it during our leave the past week.. Alhamdulillah, shows some progress lah..rather than none! Have yet to see the situation once we start working lagi nanti. Mudah-mudahan dipermudahkan insya-Allah~

It's been 6 years...

First typed - 01.03.

Alhamdulillah for giving me the chance to celebrate my 6th year working.... Has it really been THAT long since I last graduated???!! No wonder my English is loosening its grip! *sigh*

Honestly, I can write English but not fluently speak them... How am I going to pass my IELTS?! Yes, I plan to take up my IELTS, just incase my LDP application requires them. The closing date is coming near... 31.03.2013 (for the LDP app that is~) but we won't be hearing any news until June, the earliest. Pray that it gets approved! *Amin*

Aside from that, I need to finish up my project report by end of August this year! A month has passed and I've not even made any notes w.r.t this.. M planning to get everything drafted by July. Hopefully, just hopefully.. Everything is done on time! I don't know how some mothers do it...? i.e taking care of their children, doing house chores, spending time with the family and study at the same time working?? So far my study-working grades are average..which is why I am opting for LDP instead. at least, I can only concentrate solely on my studies AND family. Insya-Allah~

....... Today is the day for my 3rd preg EDD. Al-Fatihah to you my dearest son.....

18.03.2013

And so Little Mr. I is 16 months old today~ Could've become a big brother sudah ni but Allah has His plans... :) At 16 months, Little Mr. I is no longer eating porridge just overly cooked rice with soups and vegetables. Mama is so proud of you for not being choosy when it comes to eating nutritious food *Alhamdulillah*

So many little vocabs has emerged and the most recent would be, 'na mo!' whilst shaking his head... Especially when it comes to us having to take our seat away from him. Little Mr. I will always insist on us sitting together with him even if it is just merely sitting and watching him play on his own. Separation anxiety?? I would believe so..

He knows our daily routine dah... Won't argue much if it is a working day but after office hours.... Time is specifically contributed and given attention to him. a MUsT! He's grown quite a character which we love so much... my dear, please grow to be someone who is intelligent, righteous and always in the path of Allah SWT. Our prayers will always be for all of us...

... smile! :)

Assalamualaikum...

Apologies for the lack of updates. As you all may have noticed, updates lacking = back to work! Phewwwwwww!!~!~ Allah saja yang tau how hectic and stressful it was... but Alhamdulillah, I managed to survive.

Baby.I enjoys toddling lately. Good thing we have ample space at our crib for him to move around! *lol* Ada plang rasa dihati to optimise all the space di sini with all the decors n such but knowing Baby.I, he will "explore" everything, and I mean EEEEVVVEEERRRYYYTTTTHHHIIIINNGGGG! To date, we only have basic furnishing at our place.... though now, I am eye-ing on few things sudah... tapi~ sabar2 tah dulu ye. I have not managed to grab myself a safety gate for the place. Reason = Baby.I likes to go to our entrance hallway and that particular one time, I caught him biting on my shoe!! Nasib kasut yang belum pernah pakai... *phew* So yes, safety gate is a must!

I've been meaning to toilet train him but so far he doesn't show any signs of readiness. So may give it another month or two.. see how it flows~ Baby.I now can tell us if he wants his milk "Nen" , food "Mam" , jalan "yan" and if he sees items falling or when he himself falls, "gu" for gugur. Aaaaaah!! So cute, so cute, so cuuuuuuttteeeeee!!! Things that makes you love your little one a zillion times more! But yes, I guess once he can tell us that he peepees or poopoos... that would be it.

Every second of the day, I will surely miss him the most! *Sorry Hubs, I miss you too* Thinking of my two handsome beloved somehow gave me my strength to survive my working hours... ofcourse, with the anticipation of meeting them both afterwork *lol* I know right~

Oh, Adam dan Hawa will be playing soon.... signing off for now! Til the next entry..

... @ 12 months

Yesterday was Baby.I's 12 months appointment and we were late!!! Haiyoooooo~

Reached the clinic at ard 9.00am. *worried much* cos it's almost Baby.I's naptime and his cranky mode was ON!! Alhamdulillah ngam masa we came to the clinic, inda ramai orang. Placed his card on the counter, weigh him (he's 10.2 kg now) and gained alhamdulillah walaupun sikit. His weight has been constant since he was 6 months.. 9.5, 9.6, 9.8 like that~ Padantah dulu atu bolat banar usulnya! *lol* He's getting taller.. Alhamdulillah... everything is according to the range lah.

Few mins after, kana called in (no queue to my surprise.. nda ramai orang ani bah!!) and the nurse did some checks, Alhamdulillah Baby.I is developing well.
- Can he understands when being called?
- Can he say 'mama' 'babah' 'mamam' etc all the simple things?
- Walk / Cruise?
Oh he cruises alright! If he's not holding on to our sofa, he moves around the crib simply just by holding my pinky. I hardly have the chance to sit down and read! Confirm d tariknya my hand kan dipimpinnya jalan2.. hehe toddling soon eh Baby.I?

Nurse ckp insya-Allah inda lagi batah tu... then told me that today will be the MMR and Hib injections on both arms!!! Suspen giler... tot dua2 on both arms... rupanya, MMR one side, Hib on the other... hoookaayyyy~~ Hilang panic sikit and as expected, Baby.I cried but just when the nurse put the needle in, sudah siap...diam tia. Kan di ambilnya plang injection ah...!! So he is really not afraid of the needle or pain, just hates the idea of being hold by force when the session is carried out. *senyum kambing* Hehe ada2 saja lah budak ni... Mama knows you're a strong boy.... injection is nothing! The challenges and responsibilities you will face in this world as a man... now that's something. Mama do'akan that you will always be in Allah's right path... *Amin*

The whole appointment session took us 30 mins only.. and that's record breaking for someone who came late for their appointment. Must've been a slow day at the clinic yesterday... Alhamdulillah, syukur atas memudahkan urusan kami ya Rabb! :)

Until next time... xoxo~

... Friday entry

Assalamualaikum peeps,

I have to admit, this week's been spending lots of time doing research... on what else??! Baby development....!! Alhamdulillah, I am slowly getting myself back on track with my normal duties as a working wife and mom. Here's what I found out with my long night reading(s) :

Separation anxiety....
Yes, have to admit that now Baby.I is at the crisis age to experience separation anxiety. We didn't see it coming as normally, he wouldn't even bother or buat der saja when seeing me or hubs went off to work. BUt guess what?! The opposite happened starting this week! Kan mau ikut saja..... kesian you know! Not that we're complaining... somehow, we find the experiencing rather sweet and well- touching *happytears* Ah bless! Siuk rasanya bila he acted this way... showed us that we have a bond. Obviously lah jua tu ah... hehehe parent & child!

So this is what I've found out, which I think can be implimented....
Always say goodbye. Kiss and hug your baby when you leave and tell him where you're going and when you'll be back, but don't prolong your goodbyes. And resist the urge to sneak out the back door. Your baby will only become more upset if he thinks you've disappeared into thin air.

Keep it light. Your baby is quite tuned in to how you feel, so show your warmth and enthusiasm for the caregiver you've chosen.

Try not to cry or act upset if your baby starts crying – at least not while he can see you. You'll both get through this. The caregiver will probably tell you later that your baby's tears stopped before you were even out of the driveway.
Once you leave, leave. Repeated trips back into the house or daycare center to calm your baby will make it harder on you, your child, and the caregiver.
Insya-Allah, he'll get through it.. by age 2! Or maybe sooner, hehehe

Feeding...
Oh yes.. I have to admit, I have not started giving Baby.I chicken nor beef! I've tried feeding him salmon dah~ But due to my condition last time, nauseous everytime mencium bau cooking... I failed to practice feeding him chicken and beef. Will definitely try this the soonest! For his age, I managed to find this guide :

Age: 10 to 12 months

Signs of readiness for additional solid food
  • Can hold head up
  • Sits well in highchair
  • Makes chewing motions
  • Shows significant weight gain (birth weight has doubled)
  • Shows interest in food
  • Can close mouth around a spoon
  • Can move food from front to back of mouth
  • Can move tongue back and forth, but is losing tendency to push food out with tongue
  • Seems hungry after 8 to 10 feedings of breast milk or 40 oz. of formula in a day
  • Is teething
  • Picks up objects with thumb and forefinger (pincer grasp)
  • Can transfer items from one hand to the other
  • Puts everything in his mouth
  • Moves jaw in a chewing motion
  • Swallows food more easily
  • Has more teeth
  • No longer pushes food out with tongue
  • Is trying to use a spoon

  • Fruit cut into cubes or strips, or mashed
  • Bite-size, soft-cooked vegetables (peas, carrots)
  • Combo foods (macaroni and cheese, casseroles)
  • Protein (egg; pureed or finely ground meats, poultry, and boneless fish; tofu; well-cooked and mashed beans)
  • Finger foods (lightly toasted bread or bagels, small pieces of ripe banana, spiral pasta, teething crackers, low-sugar O-shaped cereal)
How much per day
  • 1/3 cup dairy (or 1/2 oz. cheese)
  • 1/4 to 1/2 cup iron-fortified cereal
  • 1/4 to 1/2 cup fruit
  • 1/4 to 1/2 cup vegetables
  • 1/8 to 1/4 cup combo foods
  • 1/8 to 1/4 cup protein foods
hoooboy!! banyak kaann... hahaha so far he's ok with oats, fruits, veggies, beans and fish. Have not introduced him those yang I haven't crossed out... but I guess, that will follow with his growth. Insya-Allah~ As a new mom, I am still learning with adapting conventional + modern methods of raising a child.  It can be a challenge especially when opposing our elders ideas or ways. Especially those yang macam... hmmm how shall I say it yea... well- methods ani lah. Some ofcourse we'll follow, but there's just the teeny tiny bit yang really out of the picture... hehehe susah lah nak explain! I hope you all get what I mean lah ah~
