Baby. I is 1 Month Old

Assalamualaikum peeps,

Today, dearest Baby.I is one month old. Alhamdulillah~ He's growing healthily... The next two days will be his 1st appointment at the clinic. *nervous* Yes, cos base on the yellow card confirm kna inject and all and I can't bare the sight of it. Even masa we were still @ RIPAS Hospital, dearest me cried meliat Baby.I kena inject and taken blood sample (walautah the procedure was not done infront of me) as his Mum, even a day's old pun sudah I recognise his cries! *sigh*

I remember the time when I my water broke! It was Thursday, 17 Nov 2011 and it was after I had my weekly checkups at the clinic. Mine happened after lunch (I was suppose to go to my office that afternoon), I was at my sister's and suddenly have the urge to pee. So, went to the little ladies room and did my business. Mind you, I really didn't expect it but felt weird kenapa after peeing mcm ada uncontrolled gush of water dripping from you-know-where. I was like, 'eh, could it be?' It didn't feel like wee-wee at all. That was around 1p.m. Gladly that time, Pa & Ma were there... I shot out from the rest room and called out my sis (to avoid panic) and ask for a towel. Told her that my water broke. Riuh satu rumah tarus! *lol* Funny experience tho... 

Mum then told me to call my office and inform my boss that I won't be coming in.

Mum : 'do you feel any contractions yet? if belum, sempat lagi ke rumah ni... call your husband to get back home and we'll go to the hospital once you start feeling the contraction pain...' 

Me : 'ok kah tu? I was adviced to go immediately to the hospital if my water broke..'

Mum : Ikut pengalaman Mama, 1st birth usually take 12-14 hours until you are actually in the 2nd stage of labour... 

But ofcourse the above dialogue is translated, semua we ckp in Malay plang tu. Did what Mum told me, informed Mr. A and he panicked.. by the time he reached home kami blum lagi sampai. Hahaha sampat lagi I took a shower arah my sis's place just incase I started to feel the pain on our way.. so langkah berjaga-jaga..mandi awal if sakit dlm kereta tarus ke hospital. But no, sempat lagi we ke rumah. Relieved I was to see dear husband, anxious and couldn't actually hold our tears. Alhamdulillah sempat lagi us both sembahyang Asar, Maghrib & Isyak together, each time praying that semua urusan dipermudahkan and berjalan dengan lancar. I actually started to feel the contractions around Maghrib but I was like alang2 baik th tunggu after Isyak then go to the hospital. (Yes, that sounds like a brave plan indeed... sudah th inda tarus ke hospital after water broke)

2100 hrs , arrived and checked-in to the DPMMHAMB Hospital Tutong and I was just 3cm dilated. The nurses were all confident, 'inda batah ni beranak you either tonight or subuh' *NERVOUS* Sekali when the nurses tukar shift lain tia lagi ceritanya... it was already 2300hrs and I am still at 3cm! Doctor was abit worried, so I was forwarded to RIPAS and they got my husband to sign this form in case I had to do a C-Section pasal almost 12 hours after water broke and I am still not fully dilated.... *DOUBLE NERVOUS* I planned to experience normal birth!

2330 hrs , they took me to RIPAS pakai ambulance, Mum accompanied me inside the van and dear hubby followed from behind. All the way to Bandar, sakitnya... Tuhan saja yang tau and I was shivering not because it's cold but pasal menahan sakit. Allahu akbar...~ Mr. A sempat reminded me before masuk ke ambulance 'Bawa banyak2 berzikir sayang... for sure makin kuat tu rasanya' Everything went into my mind, how to cope with labour, cemana sakitnya, cemana keluarnya... episiotomy or c-section ni..either way memang bejahit dua2.... kalau c-section berserah sajalah.. maybe it's not meant to be this first time. Berserah saja pada Allah...

0030 hrs , at RIPAS straight to stage 1 labour room. The nurses did yet another VE (3rd time experiencing it).. sekali apanah? 'Had they just waited, inda payah ko jauh2 turun ke RIPAS... 8cm sudah ni~ No need C-Section, you'll deliver normal and no time for stage one.. straight to labour room!' Alhamdulillah, I was feeling abit relief pasalnya inda payah operate! Syukur ke hadrat Allah...

Contractions were getting stronger, they had me on CTG all the time to monitor my progress. Even I myself monitor my own progress mcm sipandai saja but at least it has kept me from thinking of yang bukan2, just concentrate on my breathing. Deep breathing when the contraction start and exhale sloooooooooowly~ And I was all alone in the labour room, that evening ada 2-3 women giving birth before me and I could really hear them scream as they gave birth. Dalam fikiran 'It's not gonna be painful and I will not scream...'

0210hrs, 18.11.2011 - fully dilated. The midwife called in my husband, 'Bah panggil lakinya.. buka sudah ni and it's time!' Again, relieved I was to see Mr. A entered the room. The midwife asked Mr.A to assist and support my back. Whilst holding my hand and he kept on whispering to my ears with zikrullah, just 2 gentle push....Alhamdulillah, Baby.I was brought into this world. Satisfied that I didn't scream like the ladies before me (sempat lagi malu time2 in labour *Lol*) And truly now I believe when my colleagues said, seeing your baby... mana lagi terasa tu the midwife doing the stitches. The feeling was breathtaking, seeing Baby.I ....and holding him in my arms. Priceless! 

Alhamdulillah~ at 37w 3d.. though 2 weeks earlier than the EDD (05.12.2011), Baby.I was born healthy, normal delivery and weighing 3.04kg.

Mama and Babah will never forget the experience. Love you Baby.I ... another 2 months until Mama starts working. Can't wait to see you all chubby whubby~~ Kalau ikut the father inda plang ada chance tu but if he is to follow me when I was an infant. Gebu! Hehehe we'll just have to wait and see... till then, xoxo~

so far, so good...

Alhamdulillah, Baby.I just turned 3weeks old last Friday and so far, dear Mum & Dad is coping well with his cries and tantrums. Since the very first week, we only mandikan Baby.I once a day cos his tali pusat belum tanggal (only fell off on day 6) then menunggu pusatnya kering lagi. Started to bathe him twice a day since last Friday. Bare in mind, I have not introduced him any baby foams just yet pasalnya, being a baby they have their own baby scent (which I find irresistable). I really don't want anything to affect his skin.

The liquid detergent 'Purity' has been doing such a good job with his clothes and we're still using disposable diapers on him (planned to actually start CD-ing when he's 2 months old). As for being sleepless? Rule is, when the babe sleep... you sleep! Knowing babies sleep from 16-20 hours a day, we can actually chose which of the baby's sleeping time we wish to follow. :)

Another 5 days and Baby.I will be one month old and this new mum's pretty much nervous with his 1st medical check-up @ the clinic nanti. Ya Allah, lindungilah kami semua daripada apa jua bencana *Amin*

Baby is born...

18.11.2011 / 21 Zulhijjah 1432H... Alhamdulillah... i'm officially a mom!!!!! :) Baby is healthy and confinement period starts tomorrow~

It's a journey that one may cherish for the rest of her life. I'm already 36 weeks and my oh my... has this tummy gotten ever so big! Work's been keeping me occupied that I barely realised that I'm nearing the start of my maternity leave... Alhamdulillah~ I'm just a few weeks away from my due date and to date, Alhamdulillah, everything from my checklist is done!

So I had my first weekly appointment today. The doc tukar lagi *sigh* She's new usulnya but yet very friendly and thorough with her checks (which is good) Young too, so to communicate with her is much better than the previous one (not that I'm saying that the previous one atu nda bagus.. masing2 ada baiknya lah)... hope that she'll be assisting me during my delivery nanti.  Well- I can only hope. It all depends on where I'll be delivering *lol*

I'll be starting my maternity leave soon. Inda terasa eh, I know some may say, 'sayang eh if you start cuti two weeks before due... krg mun tekana you overdue inda jua banyak masa to spend time with your baby tu...' True tho, but I trust my instinct... insya-Allah berbaloi~ and I need rest so as to prepare meself physically and mentally for the upcoming labour! *jeng*jeng* Consider myself lucky that so far, I have not experienced any braxton hicks... worried I was before but sudah d baca2 arh books & online. They say, some women may not be experiencing BH at all and just straightaway with the contractions! Tawakal saja lah I...

As for now, preparations for this dearest Mum-2-Be are :

• squatting exercises
• daily perineal massages
• need to go for hair treatment & steam at the start of my ML
• re-arranging a few stuffs in our room
• ..and ofcourse, prepare myself spiritually, semoga dipermudahkan & sihat wal'afiat kehendakNya *Amin*

We're gonna be parents!!! *iskiness*

the checklist...

Assalamualaikum ladies~

Less than 2 months away... mixed feelings indeed! My check-up has been upgraded to every fortnight sudah...and tomorrow is my next. Sadly, Hubby won't be around to accompany me.. so will probably just go on my own. A blogger friend Mrs. I shared her checklist... and I sorta feel that I should post mine as well.. This was mine last time.... and below is the better version of it. I just simply copy, paste n edit from her site.

POSTNATAL & BABY CHECKLIST

For Myself, the mummy-to-be~~  :

• Postnatal Treatment - Booked! Pampering time @ home is a bliss~
• Disposable/ washable breast pads – have not got these yet...
• Nursing bras - From Lilly's, super comfortable and can be converted to sports ones! DONE! but still need to get yang utk basahan (i.e. treatment period) krg melakat bau minyak apa~
• Maternity pads – Not yet.. I'm pretty choosy when it comes to pads.. so mayb I'll just stick with my usual pads except get an overnight / heavy flow ones.
• Socks - Tonnes!!
• Nursing tops - Bought one from Lilly's... and it's fab!!

Clothes : 0 -3 Months (Tempted to buy the newborn sizes but then again, sayang cos takut inda lama ya pakai hence 0-3 months). Ada hand me downs on new born sizes jua.. so~ save sikit!

• Bodysuits - DONE!
• Sleepsuits - DONE!
• 2pc clothing – DONE!
• Going out (LS) – Will buy them lepas pantang nanti... ~ hehehe
• Mittens & Booties – DONE! come's with the set of bodysuits n sleepsuits we've bought. Besides, if suits mothercare the flap on the sleeves can be turnover hence, no mittens required!
• Baby cap – DONE!
• Cloth diapers - actually planned to start using them once baby is around 2-3 mths old but, just to get ready, got 4 of Flips Diapers as well as extra inserts. Semangat? Yes!
• Swaddle wrap - I believe in the 2 in 1 concept of using the hooded towel as swaddles as well.. so yes, just bought as many of those and set aside which one for swaddling and which d jadikan towel.
• Baby laundry detergent – Trying Purity Sensitive but without the fabric softener. Again 2-in-1, can be used to clean cloth diapers as well~

Feeding :

• Breast pump – A matter of clicking 'Proceed With Payment' lagi. Buying them from UK site as it is much cheaper than the price sold here in Brunei or even Malaysia. So that's partly done DONE!
• Feeding bottles / Steriliser / Warmer / Cleaning Brush  –  DONE! Bought the Tommee Tippee Complete Set at an amazingly cheap price!
• Milk Storage  – Farlin and Lansinoh Storage Bags
• Cooler Bag for milk – We'll see how it goes with this one...
• Bib – bought the 10 in a pack ones.
• Burping Towel - DONE!
• Bottle Drying Rack - we'll see...
• Bottle Cleanser - Still contemplating on which brands to try out first. Hehehehe

Toiletries / Baby Care :

• Bath tub - confinement period, will be sharing with my nephew's, so we'll be needing this after the maternity leave (ML)
• Baby shampoo / bath / lotion / oil - bought the travel pack (ready to be kept in our baby's bath box)
• Cotton buds – blum lagi~
• Cotton balls / roll - belum lagi...
• Towels - refer to swaddles.
• Changing Mat - I might as well get travel changing mats saja tarus. compact and easy to keep. Belum bali lgi psl d rumah pun ada jua sudah (sharing is caring kan?)
• Baby wipes – belum lagi...
• Baby Brush & Comb, Nailclipper, Thermometer, nasal pump  - Done and bought as a set.
• Disposable diaper - to be bought early next month. Terlampau awal jua ni ah...
• Minyak Telon - I don't know why, but I love the smell of this on babies!
• Minyak Kelapa - will try to get a homemade one instead of commercialised ones. good for massaging the little one and cradle caps.

Beddings :

• Baby cot – Ohohoo... this is interesting, my dearest baby will be using MY 27 years old vintage cot! We've done some 'modernisation' works with it, oh I should post that yea... and I like!!
• Mattress – DONE!
• Blankets and pillow set -DONE!

Travelling :

• Stroller + Carseat – It was an offer not to be missed. Hence, we've got both sudah..
• Baby Sling/ Carrier -It depends on the baby's preference nanti... :D
• Diaper bag – still contemplating on this one, but I have my eye on this one bag...~

So far so good for a 32 weeks pregnant mom-to-be, Yes?? Seriously, inda terasa bah.. I'm down to a minimum of 5 weeks lagi and lazy-ness is slowly kicking in already!!

Ya Allah, permudahkanlah segala urusan ku nanti dan lindungilah kami sesungguhnya kepadaMu lah ku bermohon segalanya. *Amin*

Menyambut Kelahiran

Adab Menyambut Kelahiran

Beberapa perkara telah disyariatkan oleh Islam ketika menyambut kelahiran diantaranya:

Disunatkan mengucapkan tahniah

Orang-orang Islam adalah digalakkan supaya bersegera mengucapkan tahniah kepada saudaranya atau sahabat-handainya yang baharu sahaja menerima cahaya mata. Amalan ini disuruh kerana menghibur saudaranya selain itu amalan ini dapat mengeratkan silaturrahim sesama Muslim. Sekiranya seseorang itu tidak sempat untuk mengucapkan tahniah adalah digalakkan untuk mendoakan kesahteraan kepada saudaranya dan anak yang baharu dilahirkan oleh isterinya. Antara doanya ialah:

“ Semoga Allah memberkati kurnianNya, syukurilah atas pemberian ini, penuhilah keperluannya dan rezekikanlah masa hadapannya.."

Kemudian apabila doa ini diucapkan maka disunatkan pula kita menyahutnya dengan ucapan

“..mudah-mudahan engkau juga diberkati Allah serta dilimpahi keberkatan ke atas engkau."

Disunatkan azan dan Iqamah

Rasulullah SAW sabdanya yang bermaksud: "Sesiapa yang memperolehi cahata mata (anak) maka hendaklah diazankan di telinga kanan dan diiqamahkan di telinga kiri, nescaya terlepaslah darinya angin tiupan syaitan”

Melakukan azan dan iqamah ini mempunyai hikmah tertentu, selain dari usaha untuk memohon perlindung daripada gangguan syaitan, azan juga merupakan laungan dan seruan kepada Allah, kepada agamaNya dan beribadah kepadaNya. Dengan itu jika lakukan seruan ini akan mendahului seruan syaitan. Azan juga adalah seruan kepada fitrah manusia yang asal sebelum digoda oleh syaitan yang ingin mengalih haluan kepada jalan-jalan yang terkutuk dan dilaknati oleh Allah.

Melakukan Tahnik atau membelah mulut

Tahnik ini dilakukan dengan meletakkan sedikit isi tamar di atas jari telunjuk dan dimasukkan ke dalam mulut bayi serta dengan perlahan-perlahan digerakkan jari itu ke kanan dan kiri mulut bayi. Ini dilakukan sehingga isi buah tamar tadi menyentuh pada keseluruhan mulut bayi berkenaan dan tamar tersebut akan masuk ke dalam rongga tekaknya. Jika tidak ada tamar maka boleh digantikan dengan manisan lainnya seperti gula dan sebagainya. Adalah lebih afdhal kalau tamar itu dikunyah oleh orang alim atau orang soleh untuk mendapatkan keberkatannya.

Dalam satu hadis diriwayatkan oleh Al-Bukhari dari Abi Musa r.a. katanya: “Telah dikurnikan kepadaku seorang anak, aku membawanya menemui baginda Rasulullah s.a.w. baginda menamakannya Ibrahim, lalu baginda mentahnikkannya dengan tamar dan mendoakan keberkatan untuknya, kemudian baginda menyerahkan kembali anak itu kepadaku”

Amalan tahnik ini adalah untuk menguatkan anggota mulut anak supaya lebih mampu untuk menghisap susu ibunya.

Mencukur rambut

Ini dilakukan sebaik-baiknya pada hari ketujuh kelahirannya, kemudian rambut itu ditimbang seberat emas atau perak dan disedekahkan pada fakir miskin, jika tidak mampu maka ditukarkan atas kadar wang atau sebagainya. Amalan bercukur ini mengandungi hikmah yang tertentu iaitu: dari sudut kesihatan, ia boleh menguatkan tenaga pertumbuhannya, menghilangkan selaput kulit kepala (iaitu sejenis cecair beku yang meliputi kulit kepala) dan juga dapat memberikan daya kekuatan dan ketajaman pada penglihatan mata, bau dan pendengaran. Dari sudut kemasyarakatan bercukur mengalakkan umatnya bersedekah disamping menunjukkan kesyukuran kepada Allah di atas kurniaan-Nya.

Walaupun disunatkan bercukur bagi orang Islam tetapi dilarang daripada melakukan Qaza’ iatu mencukur sebahagian kepala kanak-kanak dan meninggalkan sebahagian yang lain. Larangan ini mempunyai hikmahnya yang tersendiri, ini untuk menunjukkkan sifat keadilan Allah S.W.T dan RasulNya S.A.W. di mana manusia diperintahkan supaya berlaku adil walaupun terhadap dirinya sendiri. Larangan mencukur sebahagian kepala dan meninggalkan sebahagian kepala dan meninggalkan sebahagian yang lain merupakan suatu perbuatan yang zalim kepada kepala kerana hal sedemikian menyebabkan sebahagian kepala akan ditutupi dan sebahagian yang lain terdedah tanpa rambut.

Berkhatan

Berkhatan ialah memotong selaput kulit yang menutupi kepala zakar lelaki atau memotong sedikit hujung daging yang tumbuh dalam faraj perempuan. Dalam hal ini Rasulullah s.a.w telah bersabda yang bermaksud: “kebersihan itu lima perkara: berkhatan, mencukur bulu ari-ari, menggunting misai, memotong kuku dan mencabut bulu ketiak” (Riwayat Bukhari dan Muslim)

Hukum berkhatan: terdapat perbezaan pendapat:

a) menurut Imam Abu Hanifah dan Imam Hasan al-Basri bahawa berkhatan itu sunat hukumnya.

b) Manakala menurut Imam Syafie, Imam Malik dan setengahnya yang lain mengatakan khatan hukumnya adalah wajib. Mereka mengeluarkan hukum berdasarkan kepada hadis Rasulullah s.a.w yang bermaksud: “sesiapa yang menganut Islam, hendaklah ia berkhatan sekalipun ia dari golongan dewasa”

Manakala waktu berkhatan pula, kebanyakan ulama berpendapat bahawa berkhatan itu mula diwajibkan bilamana umur kanak-kanak hampir usia baligh. Ini kerana memudahkan bagi mereka menunaikan tanggungjawab hukum syarak yang ditetapkan ke atas mereka apabila baligh kelak. Tetapi berkhatan adalah lebih afdhal dilakukan pada hari pertama dilahirkan. Ini bersesuaian dengan hadis Rasulullah s.a.w. yang bermaksud: “Baginda Rasulullah s.a.w melaksanakan aqiqah untuk Hasan dan Husin serta mengkhatankan keduanya dalam tempuh tujuh hari ( dari hari kelahiran)”. (Riwayat Al-Baihaqi).

Menamakan anak

Islam mengalakkan umatnya memilih nama yang baik untuk dinamakan kepada anak-anak kita sebagai tanda pengenalan dan perbezaan antara orang Islam dan orang yang bukan Islam. Nama yang baik juga sangat mustahak kerana panggilan yang sering dipanggil adalah doa yang dapat mempengaruhi keperibadian anak tersebut.

on being admitted @ the hospital..

Yeap! That's what happened to me the 2nd week of Syawal. It's was an experience which I bet, only few encountered. 

I was admitted for my complain of severe abdominal pain. It was the whole abdomen when it first started but by the time I brought myself to the emergency the pain localised itself to the 'right' side. Good thing I brought it sooner (well, I can't stand the pain jua... couldn't get up from the bed!!)

So many things were playing in my head. I am just 28wks... what could it be?? Yang mahalnya, sampat lagi surfing tu mencari facts on what causes the pain? Was it early labour? Knowing I had a case before, the pain even brought me flashbacks!!! Positively thinking, I assumed that it's salah urat due to muscle stretching.. but as the little one moves, kicks.. macam mikin sakit jua and my tummy was THAT tense!! Hard to describe really but yes, I was in a lot of paaaiiinn!!! Good thing I remember the 5-1-1 rule, so early labour was out of the picture *Alhamdulillah* I sooooo don't want my little one to be out that soon and being kept in SCBU... but apa2pun, berserah saja pada takdir masa atu.

Went to the Emergency after Subuh and obviously, the doctor got me admitted for treatment and observation. I had my 1st experience of getting into the labour room...which was quite nice actually. The area was clean, changing room properly maintained...it does give me the chills but I'm super duper confident that I won't be having the early labour. Oh, I'm talking about SSB Hospital KB.. Wards are similar to DPMMHAMB Hospital, Tutong. Every bay has 4 beds with 2 restrooms (1 for shower, 1 for #1 and #2). Alhamdulillah~ so either these two hospitals will do for delivery nanti *thumbsup*

My immediate checks was ofcourse the little one. Actively kicking and healthy as a baby should be hence the pain's definitely not coming from my pregnancy. The morning after my review with the doctor(s), yes, I have several doctors diagnosing me. Gynae, Paeds, Surgery... u name it! I was informed that I could be suffering an inflamed apendicitis! My mind was like, apendicitis?? Alhamdulillah~ But it doesn't stop there, they said that they will try to give me meds (ofcourse it won't affect the baby) and see if my pain subsides as this inflammation was actually giving me all the pain and may trigger my uterus into having early delivery. IF the pain subsides, I'm ok~ if it doesn't, they have to do surgery to remove my appendicitis and may also get me in preterm labour!! What choice do I have here? Again, berserah kepada takdir... if it was meant to be that way then so be it.

Alhamdulillah, within 24 hours the pain subsides..... such a relief indeed. Had to be on 'Fluid Only' diet for 24 hrs though but it's all worth it! :D :D :D The next 24 hrs went well jua...hence, was discharged the next day. Given a few days off from work but is on bedrest. Coincidentially, my MC coincides with my applied leave jua so... kira extended hols off from work lah?~ Hehehe, Alhamdulillah..

Here I am now, preparing myself for the coming to our newborn. Got my vintage 27yrs baby cot to be reused and repainted. Few items already been bought and am planning to attack Bebeland & Mothercare this weekend since, again, they're on sale till end of the month :D Wishing all the M2Bs especially firstimers like myself, a very good luck on our journey to motherhood. Minal aidil Wal Fa' idzin..

... diapering ... Part II

Assalamualaikum,

21st night of Ramadhan, Alhamdulillah.. fasting to date, has been going on well for me. Provided ofcourse, makan sahur with oats, Anmum Materna as my hot drink and some kurma. *thumbs up*

I remember telling you lots on having GTT on my 24th week, yes that was last week, mak oiiiiiiiii, concentrated glucose indeed but like I always told myself and others. It's all in the mind, so since kna suruh fasting dri midnight till about 8.30am in the morning (this is the only day that I didn't fast), I just said to myself, 'I'm thirsty and I have to drink this up *glug*glug*glug*' Concentrated kh ya, apakah ya... nda lgi saya ingau tu eh! *lol* Let's just hope the results turned out alright. Next appointment @ the ante-natal clinic would be next Saturday... *all smiles*

That's a short update on myself... now onto the main topic on diapers! Yes, mikin d surf mikin plang macam2 jenis diapers yang I have managed to find. I've decided to start CD-ing (cloth diaper-ing) perhaps when the baby is 3-4 mths old. Biar tia awal2 atu makai disposables since newborns tend to change their diapers frequently (based on experiences with my nieces and nephews) so, bila ada rhythm sudah and baby is big enough should be easy peasy~

I've also found some rather good and less bulkier CDs like flips, bumGenius and the weehuggers. Each with their pros and cons... oh my~ (this mummy to be is doing too much research already). They're all OS (one size), meaning it is adjustable from newborns to approx. 3 yrs old toddlers. SO yes, it's a matter of choosing which functions best with our future child nanti. *sigh*
